Hockeyium Privacy Policy

This is the privacy policy for Hockeyium (the "Game"), a 2D arcade hockey game for the web, iOS, and Android developed by Ethelium ("we", "us"). Because Hockeyium offers ranked online multiplayer, some data is processed on our server to run matches and keep the leaderboard. This policy explains what we collect, how it is used, and the choices you have.

Information stored on your device

Hockeyium stores the following data locally on your device (in your browser's local storage on the web, and in your operating system's standard app-preferences storage on iOS and Android). This data is used to run the game and does not, by itself, identify you:

• Your chosen display name for online play
• An anonymous player identifier generated on your device, used to associate your ranking with you across sessions
• Game settings and preferences (mode, difficulty, controls, and audio choices)

Information processed by our server (online play)

When you choose Play Online or the leaderboard, Hockeyium connects to our server (running on Cloudflare Workers and Durable Objects). Offline "Quick Play" against the AI does not require any connection. For online play we process:

• Your display name and anonymous player identifier (as above)
• Your ELO rating and win-loss record, held in a server-side Ratings store so your rank persists and appears on the global leaderboard
• Live match data — the positions, movements, shots, and score of an in-progress match — which is simulated on the server and streamed to the players in that match. This real-time state is transient and is not retained after the match ends.
• Standard connection metadata (such as your IP address) that any internet service necessarily receives to route traffic. We do not use it to build a profile of you.

We do not ask for or store your email address, real name, phone number, contacts, photos, precise location, or payment details. There are no traditional accounts and no password.

Service providers

• Cloudflare — hosts the Game's web assets and runs the multiplayer servers (Workers and Durable Objects) and the ELO leaderboard. Cloudflare processes connection data on our behalf as a service provider. See Cloudflare's privacy policy at cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
• Apple (App Store) and Google (Google Play) — if you install the native app, these stores distribute it and may collect standard install and diagnostic data under their own policies. See apple.com/legal/privacy and policies.google.com/privacy.

Hockeyium does not include any advertising, analytics, or behavioural-tracking SDK.

Public information

Your display name, ELO rating, and win-loss record are visible to other players on the global leaderboard and to opponents you are matched with. Please do not use a display name that contains personal information you would rather keep private.

Children

Hockeyium is intended for ages 13 and over and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your choices and rights

• Play offline — Quick Play against the AI makes no network requests, so no data leaves your device.
• Change your display name — you can change the name shown online at any time from the Game's menu.
• Reset local data — clear your browser's site data, or uninstall the app, to remove the locally stored identifier, name, and settings.
• Delete your leaderboard record — to have the rating and record associated with your player identifier removed from the server, contact us at the email below.
• EU / UK / California users — you have additional rights under GDPR / UK-GDPR / CCPA, including access and deletion. Contact us and we will help.

Data security

Communication between the Game and our server is encrypted in transit (HTTPS / secure WebSockets). Locally stored data is protected by your browser or your device's standard app sandboxing.

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above reflects the most recent change.
