Hooperium Terms of Use

These terms cover your use of the Hooperium app. By using it you agree to them. If you do not, please do not use the app.
What Hooperium is
A free app for finding a basketball game at a public court, arranging 1v1 and team matches, and keeping a rating based on games you actually played. It is made by one person in New Zealand.
Your account
You need an account, created through Sign in with Apple or Google. You are responsible for what happens under it. Choose a handle that is not offensive and does not impersonate someone else — we can remove handles that are.
Fair play
The ratings only mean anything if people report honestly. You agree to:
- Report the real final score of a game you actually played.
- Not arrange fake matches to move anyone's rating.
- Not officiate a game you played in.
- Not use another person's account.
A ranked match requires both players' phones to confirm they are physically together, and both players to report the same score. Where those conditions are not met, the match does not count. We may void matches, reset ratings, or remove accounts where we believe results have been manipulated.
Other people's behaviour
Hooperium shows you other players and can lead to you meeting them in person at a public court. We do not vet, verify or supervise anyone. You are responsible for your own safety and for deciding who you play with.
You can report a player or something they wrote, and you can block someone so they no longer appear to you and cannot challenge you. Reports go to us for review; we may act on them, including removing content or accounts.
Playing basketball is up to you
Sport carries risk of injury. Courts are public places we do not own, inspect or control, and information about a court — its surface, lights, hoops or whether anyone is there — may be wrong or out of date. You take part at your own risk, and you are responsible for deciding whether a court and a game are safe for you.
Your content
Anything you submit — a handle, a session title, a court correction, a court request — you are responsible for. Keep it accurate and civil. You grant us permission to display and use it within the app for the purpose it was submitted. We may remove content at our discretion.
Availability
The app is provided as-is and free of charge. We do not guarantee it will be available, accurate, or free of faults, and features may change or be removed. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss arising from your use of the app. Nothing here limits rights you have under the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act that cannot be excluded.
Ending your use
You can delete your account at any time in Settings → Account → Delete my account. What that removes and what it keeps is set out in the Privacy Policy. We may suspend or remove accounts that breach these terms.
Changes
We may update these terms. The "Last updated" date above will reflect the most recent change.
