Electrician leads, emailed when someone asks for an electrician

People ask their community for an electrician when the power trips, they're adding a heat pump or EV charger, or a landlord needs a safety check before re-letting a property. These jobs usually need a registered electrician rather than a handyman, and posters often want someone who can come quickly, which makes a fast reply worth a lot.

Electrician leads: the posts we look for

  • Facebook groupPower keeps tripping at the switchboard, need an electrician in Christchurch this week.
  • NeighbourlyLooking for an electrician to install an EV charger in the garage, based in Napier.
  • RedditNeed a registered electrician for a rental warrant of fitness check in Dunedin.
  • Job boardAdding downlights through the whole house in Whangārei, who can quote this?

Which electrical work jobs we send you

Jobs we watch for

  • Switchboard and wiring faults. Tripping breakers or wiring issues that need a qualified diagnosis.
  • Heat pump and EV charger installs. New equipment that must be wired in by a registered electrician.
  • Rental safety checks. Landlords needing a compliance or safety inspection before re-letting.
  • Lighting upgrades. Downlights, outdoor lighting or switchboard-adjacent lighting work.
  • New builds and renovations. First or second fix wiring as part of a build or reno.

Posts we leave out

  • How do I reset a trip switch myself. DIY troubleshooting questions, not a request for a tradesperson.
  • Selling used light fittings or cabling. Marketplace posts rather than a job for an electrician.
  • General solar panel sales chat. Product discussion threads with no specific installer request.

These are starting points. You tell us exactly what you want and what to skip.

Each match lands in your inbox with a link to the post, so you can reply straight away.

Winning electrical work jobs from a post

  • Mention your registration and licence number. Electrical work is tightly regulated in NZ, so stating you're a registered electrician builds trust fast.
  • Ask what's happening and when it started. A short diagnostic question shows the poster you're taking the fault seriously, not just fishing for a lead.
  • Note if you can supply a certificate of compliance. Many posters, especially landlords, need paperwork for the job, so flagging this upfront can set you apart.

When electrical work posts come up

Electrician posts often rise before winter as people get heating and heat pumps sorted, and around end of tenancy when landlords book safety checks between tenants. EV charger requests tend to come in steadily year-round, with a lift after new-car sales events and over summer when people are home doing projects.

Electrician leads questions

Will I get commercial or industrial jobs too?

Community groups skew residential, so expect mostly home jobs like switchboard faults, heat pump installs and lighting upgrades. Tell us if you also want commercial or industrial posts included.

Can I exclude solar work if I don't do it?

Yes. Tell us by email what you don't want included, such as solar installs or appliance repairs, and we will leave those posts out of your alerts going forward.

Do you check that I'm actually registered?

No, we don't verify qualifications before you sign up. You are responsible for only taking on electrical work you are registered and competent for, the same as replying to any post yourself.

Can I change the towns I cover later?

Yes, any time. Email us your updated list of towns or suburbs you cover and we will adjust your alerts to match, with no need to resign up again.

How does the free trial work?

You add a card on Stripe’s secure checkout page, but nothing is charged for the first 14 days. After that it is $5 a month. Cancel before the trial ends and you pay nothing.

Do I need an Ethelium website?

No. Lead alerts work on their own. If you have a website plan with us you can add them to it from the plan builder.

Is there an app?

No app to install. Alerts arrive by email, so they work on any phone and you reply to the post from wherever you read it.
