Lawn Mowing Leads From NZ Community Posts
People post in community groups when their usual mower has let them down, when they have moved into a new place, or when a lawn has got away from them before a sale or inspection. These posts often turn into regular mowing work rather than a single cut, because once someone finds a reliable person they tend to stick with them. We watch for these posts across Facebook groups, Neighbourly, Reddit and job boards and email them to you with a link to reply.
Lawn mowing leads: the posts we look for
- Facebook group

- Neighbourly

Which lawn mowing jobs we send you
Jobs we watch for
- Regular residential mowing. Someone asking for an ongoing mower for their own lawns is the bread-and-butter job this service is built to find.
- Pre-sale or open home tidy-ups. Sellers and agents often need a lawn sorted quickly before photos or an open home, which makes for a time-pressured but well-defined job.
- Rental property turnovers. Landlords and property managers posting about a lawn between tenants are often looking for someone to take the job on permanently.
- Lawns that have got away. Overgrown sections after a holiday, an illness or a house sitting empty are common posts and can mean a bigger first visit.
- Lifestyle block or larger sections. Posts asking for mowing on bigger blocks can be worth more per visit and suit a business with the right gear.
Posts we leave out
- Giveaway or secondhand mower posts. Someone selling or giving away a lawnmower is not asking for mowing work.
- Lawn care product questions. Posts asking what fertiliser or weed spray to use are seeking advice, not a contractor.
- DIY requests for equipment loans. Someone asking to borrow a mower or trailer is doing the job themselves.
These are starting points. You tell us exactly what you want and what to skip.

Winning lawn mowing jobs from a post
- Say when you can start. Mentioning the next day or two you're free to come and have a look or get started matters more for mowing than a long pitch.
- Ask about the section, not just the lawn. Confirming size, slope, and whether there's edging or hedges helps you quote properly and shows you're paying attention.
- Offer a first cut price. Being upfront about what a first tidy-up might cost, separate from an ongoing rate, reassures people with an overgrown lawn.
When lawn mowing posts come up
Lawn mowing posts tend to pick up through spring as growth speeds up after winter, and again before Christmas when people want their sections tidy for visitors. Posts also tend to spike after stretches of warm, wet weather when grass gets away from people quickly. Spring and early summer also bring more house sales, which often means a rushed lawn tidy before photos or an open home.

Lawn mowing leads questions
Do you guarantee a certain number of mowing leads each week?
No. We can't promise a number of leads. Other mowing businesses in the same groups can see the same posts, so replying quickly and well is what wins the job.
Can I set which suburbs I mow in?
Yes. You tell us the towns and suburbs you cover, along with the jobs you want and don't want, and you can change this any time by email.
Do I pay anything per lead or per job I win?
No. There's no fee per lead and no commission on jobs you win. You pay a flat $5 NZD a month after your two weeks free, and can cancel any month.
Do I need an app to get the leads?
No. Alerts arrive by email with a link to the original post, and you reply to it yourself. There's no app to install and no middleman standing between you and the person who posted.
How does the free trial work?
You add a card on Stripe’s secure checkout page, but nothing is charged for the first 14 days. After that it is $5 a month. Cancel before the trial ends and you pay nothing.
Do I need an Ethelium website?
No. Lead alerts work on their own. If you have a website plan with us you can add them to it from the plan builder.
Is there an app?
No app to install. Alerts arrive by email, so they work on any phone and you reply to the post from wherever you read it.
