Painting leads from community posts, emailed to you
People often ask community groups for a painter before selling a house, after a tenant moves out, or when they finally get around to the exterior weatherboards. These posts are good jobs for a painting business because the asker usually has a rough idea of scope and wants someone soon. We watch for that wording and email you the post with a link, so you can reply yourself.
Painting leads: the posts we look for
- Facebook group
Does anyone know a reliable painter in Papakura? Need the whole interior done before we sell.
- Neighbourly
Looking for someone to repaint our deck and fence in Hamilton East, timber is pretty weathered.
- Reddit
Recommendations for an exterior painter in Tauranga, two storey house, need scaffolding sorted.
- Job board
Tenant trashed the walls, need a painter in Lower Hutt who can quote this week please.

Which painting jobs we send you
Jobs we watch for
- Interior repaints. Full or partial interior jobs, often tied to a sale or a new tenancy.
- Exterior house painting. Weatherboard, brick or roof-adjacent exterior work people post about before winter.
- Fence and deck staining. Smaller timber jobs that still need a tradesperson rather than a DIY roller.
- Rental turnarounds. Landlords and property managers asking for a quick repaint between tenants.
- Commercial and office touch-ups. Shop fronts, offices and rentals needing a tidy-up before opening or a new lease.
Posts we leave out
- Paint colour advice. People asking which colour to choose, not asking for a painter to hire.
- DIY how-to questions. Someone planning to paint it themselves and asking for tips rather than a quote.
- Paint supply recommendations. Questions about which brand or shop to buy paint from.
These are starting points. You tell us exactly what you want and what to skip.

You get an email
Each match lands in your inbox with a link to the post, so you can reply straight away.
Winning painting jobs from a post
- Mention the surface. Say whether you work with weatherboard, plaster, brick or interior gib so the poster knows you've read their job, not sent a copy-paste reply.
- Give a rough timeframe. People posting about a repaint before a sale or new tenant usually have a date in mind, so say when you could start and roughly how long it takes.
- Offer a site visit, not a blind price. Painting quotes vary a lot with prep and coats, so offer to come and measure rather than guessing a number in the comments.
When painting posts come up
Exterior painting posts tend to pick up from spring through to autumn, when people get out and notice weatherboards or fences that need attention before winter. Interior repaint requests often follow the rental cycle, with a jump around the end of a tenancy and before a house goes on the market. Things tend to quiet down over the wettest winter months when outdoor work is harder to book in.

Painting leads questions
How do you find these posts?
A bot watches Facebook community groups, Neighbourly, Reddit and job boards for people asking for a painter, and emails you matching posts with a link to the original.
Can I set which towns I paint in?
Yes. You tell us the suburbs or towns you cover and the kinds of painting jobs you want, and you can change that list any time by email.
Do I pay per lead?
No. It's a flat $5 NZD a month after a two week free trial, with no fee per lead and no commission on the job.
Will I be the only painter who sees the post?
No, we can't promise that. Other businesses in those groups can see the same post, so replying quickly and well is what tends to win the job.
How does the free trial work?
You add a card on Stripe’s secure checkout page, but nothing is charged for the first 14 days. After that it is $5 a month. Cancel before the trial ends and you pay nothing.
Do I need an Ethelium website?
No. Lead alerts work on their own. If you have a website plan with us you can add them to it from the plan builder.
Is there an app?
No app to install. Alerts arrive by email, so they work on any phone and you reply to the post from wherever you read it.
