Handyman leads from local posts, straight to your inbox
Community groups are full of odd jobs that never make it to a trade directory: a sticking door, a wonky fence paling, a leaking gutter, a shelf that needs hanging. These small jobs are exactly what a handyman business wants, but they're easy to miss in a busy group feed. We watch for that wording across groups and boards and email the post straight to you, with a link to reply.

Which handyman jobs we send you
Jobs we watch for
- General repairs. Sticking doors, loose handles, squeaky hinges and other small fixes people post about.
- Shelving and fittings. Hanging shelves, mirrors, curtain rails and similar odd jobs around the house.
- Minor fencing and gate work. Replacing a paling or fixing a gate that won't latch, short of a full fence rebuild.
- Gutter and spouting fixes. Small repairs to gutters and downpipes that a homeowner can't safely do themselves.
- Rental maintenance lists. Landlords posting a list of small jobs to get done between tenancies or before an inspection.
Posts we leave out
- Full renovations. Larger structural or kitchen and bathroom jobs better suited to a builder.
- Appliance repairs. Washing machine, oven or fridge problems that need a specific appliance technician.
- Pure DIY questions. People asking how to do a job themselves rather than looking to hire someone.
These are starting points. You tell us exactly what you want and what to skip.

Winning handyman jobs from a post
- List what you can cover. Handyman posts are often a list of small jobs, so reply with which ones you can do in one visit rather than quoting just one item.
- Mention a call-out or minimum charge upfront. Small jobs mean small budgets, so being clear about a minimum charge avoids a wasted back-and-forth.
- Suggest bundling the jobs. If someone has several odd jobs, offer to do them all in one visit, which is often more appealing than hiring separate tradespeople.
When handyman posts come up
Handyman requests tend to come up all year, but often spike around spring cleaning, before a house sale, and when a rental is being prepared for a new tenant or an inspection. Many people post after putting off a small job for months, so there isn't always a clear seasonal pattern beyond a gentle lift heading into spring and early summer.

Handyman leads questions
Will the jobs be worth my time?
We can't promise a number of leads or the size of any job. Posts range from a single small fix to a longer list, and it's up to you which ones you reply to.
Can I limit this to small jobs only?
Yes. You tell us the kinds of jobs you want and don't want, and the suburbs or towns you cover, and you can change this any time by email.
Is there an app to check?
No app. Matching posts arrive by email with a link to the original post, and you reply to the person there yourself, the same as replying to any other comment in the group.
What does it cost after the trial?
Two weeks free, then a flat $5 NZD a month afterwards. There's no fee per lead and no commission on any job you win, and you can cancel in any given month.
How does the free trial work?
You add a card on Stripe’s secure checkout page, but nothing is charged for the first 14 days. After that it is $5 a month. Cancel before the trial ends and you pay nothing.
Do I need an Ethelium website?
No. Lead alerts work on their own. If you have a website plan with us you can add them to it from the plan builder.
Is there an app?
No app to install. Alerts arrive by email, so they work on any phone and you reply to the post from wherever you read it.
